Understanding the units
Bengali jewellery weights, and how they relate to grams.
⚖️ Bhori (ভরি)
The standard unit of the Bangladeshi jewellery trade, identical to the old tola: 11.6638 grams. Every shop board quotes prices per bhori.
🔸 Ana (আনা)
One-sixteenth of a bhori, about 0.729 g. Small ornaments and light chains are usually priced in ana.
🔹 Roti (রতি)
One-sixth of an ana, about 0.121 g. The finest unit still in everyday use for stones and very light pieces.
